Agenda Item #49

Item Title
Educational Plant Survey 2006-2010 (Revised)

Issue/Rationale

According to State Requirements for Educational Facilities and Florida Statutes, an Educational Plant Survey must be done at least every five years.  The Educational Plant Survey is a systematic study of the existing educational and ancillary plants, a comparison of those existing facilities to the facility lists and the DOE’s projected number of future students and thus the future needs for renovation, remodeling and new construction are determined.  The purpose of this is to aid in formulating plans and budgets for housing the educational activities of students and staff of the District for the next several years.  The Educational Plant Survey is required to ensure that the funding either budgeted or anticipated for all recommendations is eligible for Part III expenditure.

Recommended Action
Approve the Educational Plant Survey as submitted.

Financial Impact

The approval of the Educational Plant Survey will have cost only when the recommendations are initiated.  These recommendations are initiated at the School Board’s discretion.  Any expense would be approved by the Board in the Educational Facilities Plan.
